Pain, stress, our environment—these all have an impact on our skin
and our appearance. Hands On HealthCare Massage Therapy and Wellness Day
Spa in Commack believes in providing treatments that link wellness to
beauty.
This modest-looking storefront gives no clue as to the luxurious
interior. The eclectic décor is warm and welcoming. I relaxed in an
ultra-soft robe while waiting in an ochre-walled room with a beautiful
water feature. The treatment room, which is the special room they use
for spa parties, was one of the most beautiful I’ve ever seen. Each
table was separated by drapes. I felt like I was in an Arabian fairy
tale. The table was heated, comfortable and covered with rose petals.
Vicki, a licensed massage therapist and esthetician, gave me a deep
tissue and trigger point (accumulations of waste products around a nerve
receptor) massage on my neck to help with pain and migraines.
Manipulating trigger points can be a bit painful, but ultimately the
brief pain provides relief from chronic pain. Vicki learned about it
after seeking treatment for her own issues, making her a very empathetic
and effective therapist.
Next, Vicki administered a dry brushing exfoliation—a gentle rubdown
of the body with an exfoliation glove—followed by a chocolate back
scrub, and she finished with an application of rose oil.
Jolie, also an LMT, then gave an oil treatment on my hands and feet,
which she wrapped, and a Rose Petal Massage. After massaging each limb,
she sprinkled it with rose petals. This massage was so incredibly
relaxing. It was firm enough to help work out some kinks but gentle
enough to lull me into a state of near self-hypnosis. Yes, that
relaxing! She also used hot stones, which I cannot praise highly enough.
Once Jolie finished, I moved to a little sitting area and snacked on
fruits, nuts and orange water while the table was prepped for my facial.
Kelly, a licensed esthetician, examined my face and provided me with a
Custom Ageless Facial using Glo Therapeutics and Eminence Organic Eye
and Freeze 24/7 products. While the hydrating mask was on, Kelly treated
me to the “I Wanna Be Sedated” scalp massage. Wow. By this time, I was
pretty much turned to jelly.
I recommend you check out this amazing spa. Marla, an LMT and a
Certified Lymphatic Therapist, knows what makes such services effective
for mind, body and spirit and ensures that she and her staff deliver!
